The Faith Formation Ministry at Saint James' Episcopal Church is dedicated to the spiritual formation, transformation and renewal of all members of the parish family -- children, youth and adults. The program aims to invite all God's people into the community of the church, enlightening us with a deeper knowledge and love of Christ, Holy Scripture, and the traditions of the church, and energizing each of us to live out our baptismal covenant in the 21st century.

The Faith Formation Ministry at Saint James' invites adults of all ages and stages of life to join us on our spiritual journey. Our offerings stimulate the mind and enhance our spiritual beliefs, and along the way we experience fellowship and fun. The programs are varied and call upon many of the gifts found through the Body of Christ. For example we recently studied two of Dietrich Bonhoeffer books, "Life Together", and "The Cost of Discipleship".
Bonhoeffer was martyred by the Gestapo near the end of World War II for plotting to kill Hilter. Bonhoffer left a legacy of writings that has become a prized testimony of faith, and courage for Christians around the world. We also had a movie event with Bonhoeffer's life and execution by the Nazis called, "Agent of Grace", followed by refreshments and a lively discussion. We also have speakers talk about faith, finances and end of care decisions.
Our events are announced in the Sunday Bulletin, Monthly Newsletter, e-Pistle and our website.
Currently beginning on September 18, 2017 at 6:30 pm we will begin a book study on Sharing What We have Seen and Heard, An Outline of Faith. We will be using questions and answers with the appropriate bible verses. Our Faith is based on Scripture, Reason, and Tradition.
On Saturday mornings beginning on October 14, 2017 and every other month from 9am to 12pm we will have a morning of quiet, prayer and reflection in our beautiful Chapel. For October we will discuss the book "The Cloud of Unknowing" by an anonymous author. Use the translation by Carmen Acevedo Butcher. The basic premise of this book is that God is so great, that we could not possibly totally understand God - but we can learn about and come to know, in a small way, this great God.
We also had a field trip to the "Cloisters" in NYC and enjoyed the wonderful art work, gardens followed by a wonderful lunch and fellowship together.
All are welcome to Faith Formation.

We are committed to the spiritual development of our children from baptism to confirmation and beyond by bringing them the Good News, helping them to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As a community we seek to love and serve God, to love our neighbors, and to learn what the Bible teaches us about living faithful and fruitful lives.
