Week Six

4/26/2022

Our Lenten walk with Christ is finished.  We logged 234 miles in the last week. Added to our other ‘walks’ we would have completed half of the Abraham Migration.  Our total six week journey together was 2,078 miles. That itself is farther than the distance from Jerusalem to Rome (1843 miles).  Alleluia! What an accomplishment! During our time together, we learned much about our spiritual and physical health.
For instance;
  • We accomplished more than we thought possible;  “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)
  • If we are weary, fall down and are unable to meet our goal, we can begin again because: “He revives my soul” (Psalm 23)
  • We can learn to eat healthy food to strengthen our bodies rather than processed food for God has given us all we need: “See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.” Genesis 1:29)
  • Meditation helps clear the mind, allowing us to focus on God and his plan for our lives, thus leading us to healthy choices: “Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16)
Yes, our Lenten journey is over, but Easter brings a new day-a new beginning so our journey together may continue.  We would like to invite you to:
  • continue walking for your health in order to strengthen you so that you may continue in God’s work on earth – it was suggested a 15 minute walk together after church on Sunday
  • offer unprocessed food at coffee hour – i.e. homemade breads, cakes, fresh fruit and veggies, etc.
  • continue to meet and discuss other books of interest to strengthen our faith
  • continue to support each other in our journey of faith, healing and health
Thank you to all who participated in this journey and congratulations on your achievements!  You are truly an inspiration to all.
Keep watch for other programs brought to you by the Faith Formation team at St. James’.  If you have suggestions for a specific program, please meet with us on the 1st Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom.  You will find the meeting link on the church calendar.
