Mission Ministries at St. James’ have a long history of helping our friends and neighbors in the community and around the world.

Community connections is a conduit between St. James' and our local community. We seek to become aware of the needs of others, lift those needs up to the parish and help identify resources at St. James’ and in the community to assist in meeting those needs. Each month we select a partner and purposely raise awareness and funding for its support. Some of our Community Connections include:

Dorothy Day Meals: Contact Yvonne Kiddoe, [email protected] A meal is prepared on the third Thursday of each month from 10 am - noon in the kitchen at Saint James'. We serve this meal the following day at Dorothy Day Hospitality House from approximately 1 - 5 pm. Anyone high school age or older is welcome to help!
Daily Bread Food Pantry: Contact Peter Kent, DB President, [email protected] The Daily Bread Super Food Pantry is located on Park Avenue. For more information about the pantry's operations and history, visit The Daily Bread Website.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner: Contact Church office, 203-748-3561 Thanksgiving Dinner is made and served by St. James' parishioners, friends and community members. The community dinner is served on Thanksgiving Day to 100 to 120 people. Help is needed to set up, clean up, and serve.
Association for Religious Communities (ARC): Contact Joe Walkovich,[email protected] The mission of ARC is to "Alleviate the causes of violence, suffering and hate while advancing peace, justice and human dignity". St. James' has a historical partnership with ARC.
Laundry Love: Laundry Love is a nation-wide ministry that washes the clothes and bedding of our neighbors living in poverty. Twelve faith communities in and around Danbury have joined together to ensure the dignity of every human being with whom we come in contact. If you are interested in sharing in this ministry, please reach out to Denise Holl, [email protected]. Currently, there are 2 ways in which you may participate:
Drop your loose change in the purple Laundry Love detergent bottle on the table at the back of the church
Volunteer to serve as a host at one or more of the Laundry Love events.
