ASP - Appalachia Service Project
Members of our parish join the Danbury Methodist Church to go to the Appalachia Region to help make houses "warmer, safer, drier". If you are 14 or older, or would like to chaperone on these trips during the summer,please see the Methodist Church page or the ASP home page. |
El Hogar, the Home of Love and Hope
An empty stomach makes learning nearly impossible.Yet this was the challenge facing Maria and the other children at El Hogar de Amory Esperanza -The Home of Love and Hope, Honduras. At least that was so until St. James'committed to sponsoring her with basic necessities for the year. Now Maria receives clothing,food,medical and dental insurance,tuition and school supplies, and religious education in a loving and Christian environment. This helps her body and mind grow both physically and spiritually.Committing to sponsor Maria is a stretch for us at St. James', but if we share the opportunity we will be able to sustain this new commitment for the coming years.Indeed, we can provide Maria with a better way of life for only $5,400 a year. Money goes a lot farther in Honduras than it does here.
