Music is a vital ministry to the parishioners of St. James’. With a powerful organ and the voices of believers echoing through the sanctuary, it’s hard not to feel connected to our Lord.  We have a dedicated Chancel Choir that sings at the 10 AM service on Sundays, as well as many special services throughout the year. The youth/children’s choir practices regularly and performs during church service several times per year. There is also a 14-piece hand bell choir that rings regularly, including joining other bell choirs in Connecticut. St. James’ has a carillon in the bell tower—the first complete carillon forged in the United States, and hosts a Carillon Concert Series every summer. We have guest soloists, instrumentalists, and various performances throughout the year. In 2018, there was a Bach to Broadway concert in June, and singers from St. Petersburg, Russia, in November. In the summer of 2018, we ran Camp Jubilee, where children participated in singing, playing, theatre, and arts and crafts. A new initiative in 2019 is the Red Door Concert series, where guest musicians are invited to utilize St. James’ incredibly acoustic sanctuary for concerts.

Praise the LORD.Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.  Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.  Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,  praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,  praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Psalm 150:1-5
