God’s Mission, Our Purpose St. James’ Episcopal Church proclaims the Good News, embraces Episcopal traditions, and ministers in the name of Jesus Christ. We are dedicated to providing food, shelter, clothing and compassion to those in need. We are open and affirming, treating all with respect and dignity, growing in faith through worship, stewardship and education.
Our Parish Community Welcome to St. James’ Episcopal Church in downtown Danbury, Connecticut. Easily recognized by the red doors and Gothic architecture, St. James’ parish offers compassion and respite to those who are weary and strength to those on a journey toward greater understanding of God’s vision. Residing in a city of broad ethnic, cultural, economic and religious diversity creates many opportunities to serve Jesus Christ through the myriad ministries of St. James’ Church. Our congregation is growing in ethnic and cultural diversity as well, although not as rapidly as the surrounding city. We view this as an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Christ among us. We value our heritage and seek to maintain our Episcopal identity and tradition of worship as we minister to the spiritual needs of our congregation by growing in knowledge, wisdom and faith. By the grace of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and with Jesus at our side, we have entered a period of reassessment, seeking to understand what God is calling us to be and do within St. James’ Church, the greater Danbury community, and beyond.
