Week Two

3/19/2022

We’re on the move!    Nine Christ Walk participants walked 223 miles (just over 3.5 miles per person) during week 2 of our journey together.  This week alone, we would have covered the distance of the Bethlehem Challenge, 220 miles. Our total to date is 381 miles.  Congratulations everyone and keep up the good work.

Insights shared from our Monday evening conversation:
  • Stress, self-doubt, portion distortion, mental health, temptation are conditions that lead to ill health
  • Ill health may occur suddenly or over time and may or may not be of our choosing, but a matter of our physiology
  • Suggestions for stress-busters include journaling, prayer, meditation, talking to a friend, reading, walking, seeking professional help
  • Our bodies were made for moving and technology may help or hinder our ability or desire to move; we need to move in order to do God’s work
  • We can choose how we respond to, and work through adversity in our life and the author offers the idea of developing and maintaining a strong relationship with God, knowing that we are not alone in this
  • There are multiple references to God’s caring about our health and well-being throughout the old and new testaments

A small, but mighty group walked for nearly an hour at the mall after church on Sunday, sharing stories and getting to know each other better.  It’s nice to know we have options, depending on the weather.  If you would like to join us after church each Sunday for a group walk, put on your walking shoes and meet up with us at coffee hour.  And please come to our zoom discussion Monday evening at 7 pm.  You are welcome even if you don’t choose to read the book or walk with the group.
